Prith Banerjee is an Indian-American computer scientist, researcher, and academician. He was born on July 31, 1953, in Kolkata, India. Banerjee completed his Bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and earned his MS and PhD degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Banerjee has made significant contributions to the field of computer science, including research in programming languages, software engineering, and information systems. He has held faculty positions at several prestigious institutions, including the University of Illinois, Northwestern University, and the University of California, Los Angeles.
Banerjee has also contributed to the development of several successful technology startups, including AccelChip, which was acquired by Xilinx, and Binachip, which was acquired by Morpho Technologies. In 2009, he was appointed as senior vice president of research at Hewlett-Packard Labs and became the chief technology officer of HP in 2011.
Throughout his career, Banerjee has received numerous awards and accolades, including being elected as a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has also served on the boards of several nonprofit institutions and academic organizations.
